A week ago I walked JoJo at dawn and we left for our first long trip with the new trailer.

The trip went well and in the afternoon we were set up at Lake Dardanelle State Park in Arkansas,

and that evening we got to see the lowering sun over that lake.

It’s a pretty area and I was delighted to see Cypress trees, it’s been a while since I’ve seen them.

The tranquility was marred by the rather dominating presence of a nuclear power station across the lake.

Nevertheless, Jojo and I enjoyed our walks for the brief time we were there.

Then Thursday we made the short, but very hilly and twisty trip on Arkansas Route 7 to Lake Ouachita State Park, just 15 miles from Hot Springs. Bud really noticed the increased weight of the new trailer.

But we are enjoying our new home. (We normally don’t put outside lights on at night, but I was checking them out and took a picture.)

It’s good to be back at Lake Ouachita.

I’m enjoying the trails with JoJo, but remembering the times I walked these with Matey.

Sunday Jamie, Sean and Bria came over and we walked the four mile Caddo Loop Trail. From the campsite it was a bit over four and a half miles and despite the heat (80 degrees), JoJo did well.

I was glad to give her a good walk as Monday she was spayed and microchipped and now she has to take it easy for a couple of weeks. Here she’s in a recovery onesie that Jamie had for when Bria was spayed. It covers the incision so she can’t lick or chew on it and seems to calm her some.

Once this is behind us things should slow down and we can just enjoy the area and being with family for a while.
The sky in that first picture is so pretty – the dawn walk you took with “MATEY” : ~ ) Matey will be in your heart and mind for a long time!
While JoJo is recovering will she be able to go for short walks?
You’ve probably gotten the hitching and unhitching down pat now. I hope you continue to enjoy your new home! I know you’ll enjoy time with family! Do you plan to be there through Thanksgiving?

Oops, I fixed that. Poor JoJo gets called Matey and sometimes Bria.
She can really only go out long enough to pee and poo for the first week or more. We’ll both miss our walks.
We are going to be in the area until the new year. We hope to get doctor, dentist, hearing and eye care all taken care of before we leave.

Yes, you will miss your walks! Maybe sometimes you can leave JoJo and Bud together and go for a walk yourself. Wow, you’ve got a long time in the area, but lots to get done while you’re there! Do you plan to stay at the same park for the duration?
