Not What I Expected

When I booked our current site at the Kelowna Urban Farm RV Park I did not expect this town on Okanagan Lake to be this large or this urban.

The towns sprawl along both sides of the narrow point in the lake,

where this very busy bridge crosses.

And everywhere there isn’t town there’s farm. Not just the one where we are.

Looking at the blue dot on the map you can see that, although we are headed to the Rockies, we’re still pretty far south in British Columbia.

There are orchards and vineyards…

all through the steep hills and houses.

Our little RV Park has only nine spaces, and they are beautifully done.

And it has chickens,

and direct access…

to the Mission Creek Greenway. The path around us is pretty flat.

It runs along a dike on the west side of Mission Creek.

Today I drove a few miles to walk on the northern end of the greenway. Here the creek is above the flat valley.

It started as a level trail through the woods.

It crossed three…

bridges,

going upstream as the banks got higher.

The trail left the creek and climbed the bank.

There were some nice views up there.

I walked up along a grassy slope.

It seemed like I had left the urban parts behind until I got to the top of the ridge…

and found myself on the edge of a golf course.

That’s what the area is like, the wild along with…

the farms, all together with

the little city. Just like the name said, Kelowna Urban Farm RV Park.

I’m glad you had a very nicely done site and trails where you could see nature and lovely views without seeing the surrounding urban areas, even though they were so close!
