Pacific Beach State Park, Just what It Says

We crossed the Columbia River into Washington on U.S. 101.

Route 101 went a bit inland, but just north of Aberdeen, WA we headed back to the coast to the little town of Pacific Beach.

The state park there…

is just a 10 acre campground…

on an enormous beach.

Matey enjoyed the beach, even when he didn’t feel like walking.

Our campsite was at the end of the row, so we had a bit of space on one side. But the building behind us was the restroom and folks walked up on either side and parked behind us, so we had no privacy.

Still, a beautiful beach just steps from your door makes up for a lot.

There was a dune, so from the camper you couldn’t see the beach. You could see the kites that folks were almost always flying, as the wind was almost always blowing.

Bud had a bad cold and finally came out to see the beach on our last afternoon.

It was a tiny park,

but having the whole Pacific Ocean in front of us made it a fine stop.

That really is a HUGE beach!! Do you think your pics were taken at low tide? I love the clouds in 2 of the pictures – they look like a farm field that’s just been disked except this “field” is blue and white! Very pretty!

I couldn’t really tell the tides. There was always a huge expanse of sand. I never saw the water come up far at all relative to the exposed beach.
